Last month, Special Collections and Archives bid farewell to its retiring founder Peter Keelan, as he hung up his white gloves for the final time.
Peter has been a member of the Cardiff University library service in its various incarnations for over 35 years. As former Salisbury Librarian, Peter petitioned for improved storage and security for this important collection, which resulted in the establishment of Special Collections and Archives in 2005.
In 2010, the collections doubled in size with the acquisition of the Cardiff Rare Books collection from the City Council, taking the University into a new league in terms of the breadth, depth and calibre of its research collections. Over the last ten years, visitor numbers, collection items, and profile have all risen steadily, as evidenced in the Special Collections and Archives Review 2005-2015. Peter’s career reached a landmark milestone in 2014 when he was awarded Welsh Librarian of the Year.
Pob lwc a pob hwyl Peter!
